Half Man Half Noodle

Looking at the same world with new eyes

No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same man – Heraclitus

Nor is it the same river. Even the cells in our bodies are constantly regenerating, are you the same person you were 10 years ago? Is that the same skin? Hopefully not.

It’s been over a year since we have been able to see new physical surroundings but has this made us look at our old surroundings in new ways?

Each time you learn, you’re seeing the world differently. Strained relationships become more bearable, passing negative comments don’t linger, coffee tastes better, certain foods can be seen in an entirely new light. This is why it pays to listen to those who have different views to you. It pays to learn about topics that are totally alien to you. Stocks? Farming? How batteries are made? All of it. Always treat the world with the eyes of a child. Be curious and ask questions. Garner a thirst for knowledge and possibility. The more you stay stuck in your ways and refuse to learn, the more you will suffer.

The only true voyage of discovery, the only fountain of Eternal Youth, would be not to visit strange lands but to possess other eyes, to behold the universe through the eyes of another, of a hundred others, to behold the hundred universes that each of them beholds, that each of them is – Marcel Proust
