Just because you don’t look at something, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Similarly, just because you ARE looking at something doesn’t mean that’s where your focus should be.
We tell ourselves that something has made or ruined our day but we chose for that to be our focus. It’s a difficult pill to swallow, that you are in control of your own emotions. With this in mind, be aware of your options.
Look at something else.
Focus your attention on what you want to look at. You always have a choice.
Close your eyes.
If you cannot control what’s in your field of vision, close your eyes. Overwhelmed by the news? Stop looking at it. Social media has allowed us to be able to see much further than before and that isn’t necessarily a good thing. They say ignorance is bliss but so is selective observation.
