When we say this is general conversation, who is it obvious to? If it’s obvious why do we need to say it at all? I don’t need to tell you the sky is blue, obviously.
Who are we justifying it’s obviousness to? The other person or to ourselves? Or are we justifying ourselves to the other person.
Don’t assume anything is obvious. It’s condescending and often incorrect.
